about us

Mark and Myshel Morgan are the artists behind M. Morgan Fine Art Photography.

”Our mutual love of photography and complimentary skills led us to pursue our dream of working together.  Our work is show in public and private locations throughout the San Francisco bay area and around the world.

Our images have been captured with Medium and Large format film cameras using Infrared and traditional films.  We also shoot with a high resolution digital SLR that has been modified for Infrared-Only capture.

Our Color and Black & White photography started with traditional methods and dark room techniques and evolved with the quickly changing world of digital photography.  We feel that we now have the best tools available to create the art we envision.

To achieve our unique Colorized images, we use a variety of traditional panchromatic films, infrared films and digital capture, then apply our imaging techniques to selectively color all or part of the composition.  The amount of color applied ranges from very subtle up to the more saturated appearance of a traditional hand painted photograph.  The end result is a surreal representation of a real location.

Our background in Commercial/Architectural photography led to our love of historic architecture and the mixture of botanical elements with manmade structures.  We find these photogenic scenes in our favorite locations such as, Paris, the South of France, and the US.

More recently, we have been residing on the East Coast and are working on several new images from Charleston, the Low Country of South Carolina and beautiful Florida, our new home base.

artist statement

Our mutual love of photography and complimentary skills led us to pursue fine art as a shared creative outlet.  Our background in architectural photography influenced us to include architectural elements in landscape style images.

We are drawn to Black and White Infrared for its unique rendering of organic elements and rich contrast.  Additionally, we have developed our own imaging techniques to merge color into Black and White photographs. This is achieved by applying varying levels of color while carefully maintaining the tonality of traditional Black and White photography.

Our work started with traditional films and darkroom processes long before the digital era, but has since evolved to take advantage of the best of modern imaging technology.  The images start from a variety of photographic systems including medium and large format, film and digital SLR cameras and a modified Infrared high resolution digital SLR.  All of our photography is captured through a camera lens as a single image.
